Ricky Campos is a force - both literally and figuratively.  Aside from striving to be the best husband and father to his family, Ricky embodies his purpose of serving his country and community as a retired Air Force Veteran and current Firefighter Captain, EMT and Instructor.

But despite the active life of juggling family, career, service and personal passions, Ricky needed more.  "Fitness has always been a passion of mine, ever since I would see my Dad working out. Being that I wear a lot of hats, time is always against me",  he explains.  "It is extremely important that I make time for my family, but at the same time, make time for myselfUndersun bands have given me the opportunity to enjoy working out while still having the option to be around my family".

Ricky first discovered Undersun Strength bands while scrolling through social media. "I ran across the image of James walking with his daughter and wife, and I remember hearing him talk about how he maintains his physique goals while not taking time away from family", he explains.

"Once I heard that I was hooked!  Because I would have this guilt of being away from my family while on shift, then have to take additional time away to go to the gym",  Ricky continues. 

"I was already working out at home but I wasn’t focusing on one muscle group. So my physique suffered. After getting into the Undersun Fitness programming, my strength has gone up and my physique is looking better than ever"!

"I used to think that resistance bands were only for physical therapy.  After the last few months of using the bands, I am now a firm believer that you can do ANYTHING with Undersun Strength Bands," Ricky says.  "This is a gamechanger.  The education I've gotten just from these few months of training with bands is comparable to none.  Not only have I gotten great results, but I now get the opportunity to train wherever I want, whenever I want". 

With two boys that keep Ricky's family busy between sports, academics, and music, Ricky loves the freedom that training with Undersun Resistance Bands affords him.  Not only is he able to get amazing results at home or at the Firehouse, but he always takes his bands on the road as the family loves taking road trips together to explore various places in California.  "I don't think I've ever had a more dynamic, portable and varied piece of equipment," he says.  "I have worked out on a beach in Monterey, CA., a park in Oakland, CA., and on a trail overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge.  Can you do that with weights"?

Ricky's enthusiasm and passion for fitness haven't just gotten him physically and mentally stronger, but they've helped him inspire others to get on the #bandwagon and live their best lives.  "If you would have told me 6 months ago that purchasing a set of resistance bands would lead me to a community of fitness enthusiasts and results I have never seen, I would've said you're crazy!", he laughs.  "But here I am! Not only enjoying the product and programming but watching others use the bands to better themselves.  Every step leads to a destination".

Here's what Ricky had to say about his quality of life now that he's been training with bands for the last 6 months:

HOW HAS YOUR LIFE CHANGED SINCE BEING INTRODUCED TO UNDERSUN FITNESS?

"My life has changed for the better since being introduced to Undersun Fitness.  Not only do I feel better, but my clothes fit better, and my wife is complimenting me more (not that she didn't before, but now I get that look of surprise when she grabs my arm on date night).  I have gained so much knowledge on how to make bands work for me.  I have been educated by the knowledge that James Grage has taken decades to develop in fitness, nutrition, and motivation".  

WHAT HAS BEEN AN UNEXPECTED VALUE WITH UNDERSUN FITNESS?
"The Tribe that surrounds Undersun has been such a positive influence - not just to me but anyone that comes into the tribe. There is such a wealth of knowledge in this group as well as this sense of humility. This is important when you are someone that wants to get into shape but doesn’t know where to start. Or are afraid of the “ Big Dudes” in the gym because you are afraid of what they may think of you, or how they may make you feel. I have had nothing but the greatest experiences when dealing with any part of Undersun Fitness". 
HOW HAS #FITNESSFREEDOM AFFECTED YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR FAMILY?
"Having the freedom to take my fitness anywhere has been a blessing. I used to try and fit in workouts wherever I could before.  Sometimes there were days were my fitness took a back seat, and it showed.  But now with the freedom to work out anytime, anywhere, I have no excuses. If I take my boys to soccer practice, I can work out while I watch them play. I can work out in my living room while my wife is working from home. I am able to make sure that my fitness goals are being met while I am not sacrificing family time.
Previously, I never looked at bands as a heavy weight. I thought the only way I was going to get the gains I wanted was by being in a gym or by spending thousands of dollars outfitting my garage. But after doing the research, I have found that I can get any type of workout I want just with bands, and for that, I am eternally grateful".
YOU'RE A LIFELONG SERVICEMAN.  HOW HAS THIS IMPACTED YOU PROFESSIONALLY?
"At first, I got the laughs. I got the stares. Now, I have people asking me where they can get a set of bands. They ask me because they notice the results. Many have wanted to challenge me at a workout with a set of bands, and after a few reps, they begin to see why I have adopted a resistance band fitness program. 
People are going to doubt, they doubted Galileo when he said the sun was center and not the Earth. It is just human nature until they try for themselves. It’s only a matter of time before more and more people see the benefits of resistance band training". 
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE BEGINNING THEIR #FITNESSFREEDOM JOURNEY WITH RESISTANCE BANDS?
"To someone just starting out with resistance bands, I have this to say: BE PREPARED.
  • Be prepared to get results you never thought possible from the bands you thought were just for physical therapy. Because your whole idea of how these bands are used is going to change. The different widths, the simple movements to add tension, the stability you never thought you were going to need, subtle hand placements all add up to big changes in the tension, and it is that tension that is going to give you the results you are looking for.
  • Be prepared to do your research, as you should with any physical fitness program.  The knowledge that James Grage provides is the difference between Undersun and other fitness companies. Anyone can sell bands, but Undersun will get you the bands and the ultimate user's guide to get the best results you have ever seen. Not to mention the nutrition program that has been developed by champion bodybuilders!
  • Be prepared to be patient. The results that any of us want will not come overnight but through consistent training. You will see small rewards and it is those small rewards that should keep you going. Remember to test your self. Give the band more tension, place your hands a little closer to the anchor point, maybe add another band to the band you are already using. These are the ways you can test your strength and use progressive overload to grow your muscles. 
  • Be prepared to get stares. People are still mystified that I use bands as my main source of physical fitness. I get the stares when I’m at the park or at my boys' soccer practice.  But I am getting results, as are the countless members of the tribe. If the product didn’t work, then I would not be here giving them the praise they deserve. Be prepared to be a trailblazer".
